SYCARA V
February 2019

SYCARA V The inside story....

"Right from the beginning the Owner had very clear and detailed views on how his yacht should look, and what she should be able to do. He had previously owned a variety of yachts, three of which were drawn by the design legend Jon Bannenberg. But this time he wanted something altogether different – a powerful and modern yacht design that retained an elegant appearance".

Nobiskrug rose to the challenge and exceeded, rather than fulfilled, the brief. Sycara V is a custom full displacement yacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure which includes fiberglass die-cast parts - a Nobiskrug specialty. This means any shape or size can be manufactured saving weight and construction time. The construction is sturdy and includes a sophisticated insulation system that ensures the yacht is quiet and vibration free.

The layout is extremely versatile with a number of different areas for relaxation on each deck. Facilities include a steam room, a massage room and gym  on the sundeck with a hot tub outside towards the bow. Sycara V can sleep up to 20 guests in eight staterooms with the Master stateroom on the Bridge Deck. Click on the link below for a tour.

In impeccable condition, Sycara V is in the Caribbean for the season. The asking price is Eur 59,5m. Please note that Sycara V is not offered for sale to US residents while in US waters.

ARETI – MY Home
February 2019

ARETI – MY Home PYC and every inch a superyacht

Given the huge advantage of being able to accommodate more than 12 guests while cruising, Areti was built to PYC standards. Created in 2010, the Passenger Yacht Code (PYC) is a classification alternative to Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). PYC allows yachts of any length to carry up to 36 guests on international voyages without having to give up the look and feel of a luxury yacht. Areti can carry up to 18 guests and is the only 85m Lurssen built to PYC standards on the market today.

PYC standards require designers to think about the code from the earliest stages of design and engineering. For instance, guest accommodations and the engine room have to be flame retardant and allow for watertight compartments and escape routes. Winch Design rose to the challenge magnificently. Most of the wood in Areti’s interior is  veneer over aluminium. Thanks to superb design and craftsmanship, it is impossible to tell the difference from solid wood. Notwithstanding compliance with regulatory and safety considerations, Areti is every inch a luxury superyacht.
Areti accommodates 18 guests in nine staterooms. The owners’ deck, below the bridge deck, includes the owners’ suite and two additional staterooms for children, family members or VIP guests.

The master suite forward has a 180-degree unimpeded view. A private spa pool, sun bed and breakfast table for an intimate morning coffee are just forward of the suite. Two more convertible double / twin guest staterooms are on the main deck, with another four on the lower deck. Areti carries up to 28 crew onboard in 14 cabins to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Click the link and come on board!

Areti is available for inspection in Palm Beach and is expected to attend the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March. Please note that she is not for sale to US residents while in US Waters.

SALES STATISTICS 2015 - 2018
February 2019

SALES STATISTICS 2015 - 2018Strong performance across all market segments

Heading into 2019, yacht sales continue to be buoyant notwithstanding a fluid economic environment. Following the GFC, the past 10 years have seen increased sales globally; as of 2013, new markets have provided new opportunities while traditional markets have ratcheted up activity especially in the US.

Below is a snapshot of Stuart’s activity since 2015, highlighting key performance indicators. Stuart has sold 29 yachts in the past 4 years; 28 brokerage deals and one new construction project. The overall value of the sales, amounted to well over half a billion dollars and the yacht’s cumulative LOAs to almost 1,500 meters.

Stuart has averaged 7 sales every year for the past 4 years reflecting both the strength of his main market, the US, and his experience. The 2018 Superyacht Annual Brokerage Report states industry averages to be 40m for LOA and USD 10 million for asking price. Stuart’s average LOA for sold yachts is 49m while the average asking price is USD 25 million. Simply said, Stuarts sales average 20% higher in LOA and 60% more in value to the average market.

In addition to robust sales, Stuart has performed consistently across all market segments. The largest yacht Stuart represented was 107m (351ft) and the smallest was 15m (49ft). The number of exploration yachts coming on the market is increasing. Pedigree, classic displacement yachts will always find a new owner. Correct pricing and good maintenance, along with the correct broker are essential ingredients for a speedy and smooth sale.

Speed of sale is a key indicator for sellers. The average sales time of central listing represented by Stuart is 8 months. His listings sell, they do not languish on the market with continuing carry costs.

Stuart has worked with Fraser for the past 38 years. The Superyacht Report ranked Fraser first for the number of yachts sold over the past five years (212).  With 29 sales in the past 4 years, Stuart’s contribution amounts to 18% of Fraser’s brokerage sector’s market capitalization.
With the first sale of 2019 completed and 12 central listings on offer, (average and overall LOA of respectively 48m and 577m and average asking price and cumulative asking price of USD 37 million and just under half a billion dollars), Stuart’s has set the stage for another year of solid performance.

ARETI - MY GAME
February 2019

ARETI - MY GAME It's all about performance.....

Yachts are typically designed with a specific mission in mind. Some are built for sport and others for relaxation. Areti is in a class of her own by combining performance with versatility, and practicality with elegance.

Andrew Winch worked closely with Lürssen to create a vessel that would excel technically and in terms of performance but was also sporty yet elegant to suit the owner’s active lifestyle. When it came to construction, PYC compliance brought with it a more robust approach including more staterooms, and was deemed most appropriate proving that luxury and regulation need not be at odds.

The layout of the yacht has been extremely well considered.  The deck spaces  flow together seamlessly, whether the yacht is being used for entertaining, business, games and fun or sports. The forward helipad can be used as a large open-air sports or entertainment area. The sun deck becomes an inside-outside gym. The Bicycle Room and the Spa are adjacent to the teak lounge-like Beach Club which is equipped with a bar. Guests arriving via tender can walk directly into it. The Beach Club opens out onto a generous bathing platform with fixed lounging areas either side. Access to the water is easy thanks to a hydraulic staircase which is partly submerged when open. The beach club is equipped with a fresh water shower as well as inside facilities.

Areti was designed to carry a large number of tenders and toys. The spaces and systems for managing them are on the Main Deck forward. Two garages are located under the heli pad and contain two 9-metre tenders by Yachtwerft Meyer, one is open and the other is a limousine tender.  A Pascoe Solas rescue tender, a Zodiac Solas rescue tender and two Sea-Doo jet skis round out the tender complement in the garages.

There is also a large assortment of smaller water toys and scuba equipment to enhance the enjoyment of life at sea while the yacht is at anchor. It's all about performance! Click on the link if you want to see Areti in fun mode!

Hakvoort Shipyard launches 63m flagship superyacht SCOUT
December 2018

Hakvoort Shipyard launches 63m flagship superyacht SCOUTDutch shipbuilder Hakvoort Shipyard successfully launched the yard’s largest project to date

Hakvoort Shipyard is pleased to announce the successful launch of its 63.72-metre motor yacht YN249. Known as Project Brio during the build, the highly-anticipated project will cruise as SCOUT upon delivery to her experienced owners in Spring 2019.

Measuring 63.72-metres with a beam of 11.6 metres and a draft of 3.25 metres, SCOUT emerged from the Hakvoort shed in Monnickendam in North Holland on 1st December before being towed to Amsterdam for final completion. Amongst the works that will be completed in the Dutch capital is the installation of her mast, crow’s nest, radars, stabilizers and propellers.

Though construction of YN249 originally started under a different name, a change of ownership early on in the build process saw a complete change in direction for the steel and aluminum explorer yacht.  Hakvoort can now reveal that SCOUT features both interior and exterior design by Jonny Horsfield and his talented team at H2 Yacht Design, who worked closely with the owner to ensure the realization of a Dutch-quality new-build project that perfectly fits her owner’s taste and requirements. Diana Yacht Design is responsible for her naval architecture.

Speaking of some of the standout features on board, Jonny Horsfield says: “SCOUT has been an exciting project for the H2 Yacht Design and Hakvoort teams. The owner’s brief called for a rugged explorer style yacht intended to look like a conversion from a commercial vessel. We gave her crisp, distinctive lines and integrated forward sloping windows. We placed the tenders on the bow, leaving them exposed to add to the utilitarian aesthetic.

“There is a helideck and a forward observation lounge in addition to an expansive sun deck,” Horsfield continues. “It allows unobstructed views fore and aft which will be one of the focal points of living onboard. The whole design process was centered around a romantic idea of original ocean exploration and SCOUT’s design - inside and out - really reflects that. She’s a fantastically unique vessel.”

Powered by twin CATERPILLAR 3512C diesel engines, SCOUT is designed to cruise at 12.5 knots and will be able to reach a top speed of 14.8 knots. Combined with easy technical accessibility and minimum maintenance requirements, an autonomous range of 4,800 nm at 12 knots ensures that she will live up to her ocean-going credentials. Her Lloyds ice classed hull adds to her serious exploration attributes as a go anywhere world cruising yacht.

On board, she accommodates eight guests across four generous staterooms on the main deck, in addition to an impressive owner’s suite that is located on the dedicated owner’s deck above.  The lower deck features the crew accommodations consisting two staff cabins and nine crew cabins. Her captain's cabin is situated on the bridge deck.

Hakvoort Shipyard was introduced to the owners by Stuart Larsen and Josh Gulbranson of FRASER YACHTS who also organized the owners project team.

The successful launch of SCOUT marks a significant milestone for Hakvoort Shipyard. SCOUT will be the largest vessel in Hakvoort’s fleet upon delivery in a few months’ time, taking the title from the 61-metre motor yacht JUST J’S delivered in 2016.

Further details regarding YN249’s interior design will be revealed at a later date.
