Octopus video online I A whole new perspectiveThe most complex and forward-thinking yacht ever built

The 126m Octopus is a feat of imagination and engineering. Still as ground-breaking today as when she was delivered in 2003, there is simply no other comparable yacht in the global fleet. She was built for long-range exploration and research and is uniquely fit for purpose.

Being equipped with two heli-pads and an aft hangar which houses two large helicopters and the refuelling facilities, she functions as a proper heliport during navigation.

The scope of sea operations is equally articulated. Octopus carries an array of tenders including a Hinckley chase boat, a limousine capable of 30kns, two 9m inflatables plus a large number of smaller craft. The Hinckley is stored in the integrated dock together with a 10-person submersible. Unmanned underwater operations are carried out by the ROV which can operate at depths of 3000m, stream video to the ROV control room on board and collect marine samples with a robotic arm. All online, click on the icon below.

Her exterior styling and naval architecture is by Espen Oino while the interiors are designed by the Seattle-based Jonathan Quinn Barnett who looked to Mid-century luxury ocean liners and Art Deco design for inspiration.
Videography by Franck Spire.

Octopus will be spending the winter in the Mediterranean. For an appointment, contact Stuart Larsen at stuart.larsen@fraseryachts.com or +1 954 328 6553. Please note that Octopus is not offered for sale to US residents while in US waters.

NEW CENTRAL LISTING - M/Y DRAGON
September 2019

NEW CENTRAL LISTING - M/Y DRAGONBuilt like a little ship, the 80m Dragon merges grace and open vistas with Italian flair

Stuart is pleased to announce the Central Agency listing of Dragon, the new 80m superyacht built by Palumbo at its Ancona facility under the Columbus Yachts brand and delivered in May 2019.

The brief for the naval architect Hydro Tec Studio specified “a classic all-white boat with a modern design and lots of windows.” Thanks to their 50 year plus experience in commercial shipbuilding, Palumbo was able to reduce the build time and, after constructing the hull in Naples, barged it to their newly acquired superyacht yard in Ancona where it was completed in 20 months. Time-saving methods included modular crew quarters, which were prefabricated and fitted before the hull left Naples.

At 79.5m and 2,210GT, owner and guest accommodations are split over 5 decks, all of which are served by an elevator, with the exception of the sun-deck. The sundeck is undoubtably one of Dragon’s highlights. It features a 7-metre, mosaic-lined pool and shaded Jacuzzi fitted into the funnel with a water blade cascade. A helicopter landing platform for an Agusta 109 or similar is forward on the main deck.
Outside living plays an important role in the design. In addition to outside seating and dining areas forward and aft, the 200 m2 beach club, enhanced by a backlit brilliant blue agate wall, includes a bar, a sauna a Turkish bath, and several relaxation and sunbathing areas.

The sophisticated interior designed with a Provencal twist by Francesco Guida is welcoming and easy on the eye. Dragon has accommodation for 14 guests in 7 cabins and the décor features brushed oak joinery combined with soft bronze or gold accents. The extensive master suite on the Upper Deck forward, has 180° views and includes a private sauna. A full-beam VIP suite is on the main deck, with four other guest suites and there is an extra guest or staff cabin on the lower deck.
The main salon and dining room feature six panoramic glass windows. The largest of these 40mm-thick panes cover an area of 10 sqm and are supported by the superstructure without additional columns or pillars.

Dragon is powered by twin MTU main engines and has a top speed of 17 knots and a range of 6,200 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots. The state-of-the-art wheelhouse was designed in collaboration with TEAM Italia, the international leader in integrated navigation systems.
A 9.5m custom limo tender built by Palumbo and a 7m tender are housed in a garage amidships on the starboard side while the crew tender and water toys are stored in side-opening compartments under the forward main deck.

Dragon will be on display during the Monaco Yacht Show from the 25 to 28 September on Quai Etats Unis, slip E14.

NEW CENTRAL LISTING – M/Y OCTOPUSRevolutionary in terms of concept, design and engineering, OCTOPUS defined global exploration cruising

Stuart is pleased to announce the Joint Central Listing for the 126m I 414ft OCTOPUS, built by Lurssen to an Espen Oino design and delivered in 2003.

One of the most well-traveled yachts in the world, it’s hard to overstate the impact of Octopus on contemporary yachting:  in terms of capability  versatility and vision, Octopus continues to outclass most, if not all, other large exploration yachts.

Octopus is equipped for extended cruising and exploration in extreme conditions. Built to Ice-class 1A and reaching max speed of 19kts, she has two helipads: one forward and one aft with access to a large helicopter garage for both. She carries seven various tenders including the 13.5m I 44ft custom Hinckley Talaria dive tender, an ROV and an array of water toys.

The hull design includes an integrated dock with lock doors at the stern. It separately houses a 60-foot submarine capable of carrying ten people as well as the Hinckley  tender in its own 62’ garage. When the vessels are inboard, the water is pumped out providing a drydock facility.

Imposing at 9,932 GT, her twin domed mast making her instantly recognizable, Octopus can house 26 guests in 13 staterooms. The interior is designed by the Seattle based Jonathan Quinn Barnett and amenities include a large cinema and a recording studio with a specially-designed floor to damp out the low-frequency noise and vibration, a private observation lounge above the owner’s deck, a beach club, pool, gym, and spa with hammam and sauna.

In superb condition having concluded an 8-month refit at Blohm+Voss including her 15-year class surveys, Octopus remains the benchmark for adventure and exploration yachting.

NEW CENTRAL LISTING - SCOUT II
July 2019

NEW CENTRAL LISTING - SCOUT IIPurpose-built exploration yacht: long range, huge volumes and fresh from a multi-million dollar refit

The 40m (130’) SCOUT II is in a class of her own.
Delivered in 1993 by the historic British shipyard Brooke Yachts, and built to a tough specification, SCOUT is one of the first purpose-built exploration yachts, pre-dating the current trend by over 25 years.

Impeccably maintained by her three owners (all keen and experienced yachtsmen) SCOUT II has always been privately used and has a proven track record as a successful global cruiser. With a massive beam of 9.2m (just over 30ft) she is remarkably stable and seaworthy and has a 4.000 nm range.

During the last three years the current owner undertook an extensive, multi-million dollar upgrade and refit at two US shipyards. The projects included a 5m extension aft and a 1m extension forward and the installation of a new mast. The bow was reshaped, all key machinery and systems were replaced or remanufactured, including zero speed stabilizers, new generators and air conditioning. All work was detailed and photographed throughout and approved by Lloyds. At 397 Gross Tons, SCOUT II is unrivalled in her class in terms of volume, performance, deck space and versatility.

While her new profile and sleek new paint job make a nod to yachting glamour, SCOUT II’s exterior is still a masterpiece of rugged strength and power. The interior however, is 100% yacht. Designed by Terence Disdale, SCOUT II offers a high degree of privacy with crew and guest areas cleverly separated. The understated elegant interior is finished in limed teak, blues and white, in true yacht style.

The Owner’s study is on the upper deck and offers a 180-degree view forward over the wheelhouse, with a sky lounge aft. There are essentially two Owner’s staterooms on the lower deck, for reduced motion, both with showers and a tub. Overall SCOUT can accommodate nine guests in four ensuite staterooms and can carry up to 9 crew members.

The asking price is USD $12,900,000. Currently lying in Maine, she can be seen by appointment. Please note that SCOUT II is not offered for sale to US residents while in US waters. Contact Stuart for more information at +1 954 328 6553
