These islands, especially the Bahamas, are a year-round destination with white powdery beaches, diverse marine life and stunning weather. You can expect consistent winds and a mixture of deserted coves, luxury hotels, shipwrecks and beach party towns. Each island is completely different from the last, from the chic St Barths to the historical Grenadines and the sailing mecca of the BVI.
Just a few hours from New York and Florida, the most refreshing time of year is between September and May when average temperatures range from 75F/23C to 86F/30C degrees. Summers are hotter (80F/27C to 90F/33C) and more humid. Hurricane season is June to November.
Not surprisingly, the islands mentioned tend to be safe since they are either the most affluent or have the least tourism development.
Access to the larger islands is good for private and commercial flights.
